9/16/2016 2 Comments TimeTime. What we want most, but what we use worst. I've always took time for granted, and have always abused its power because I always thought negatively, you could say. I seemed to think that moments last forever, and so does the pursuit of happiness, and as usual, like every other human being, I took it for granted. Of course, I took it for granted. Rejecting my friends when they asked me to hangout, or always procrastinated doing things that I've wanted to do, because I was afraid to try something new. Now, I look back, and think to myself, "Oh, you could've made many more friends, and all that knowledge you could've gained from not only the people, but the experience itself would've been so helpful now."
It's been three weeks since I've moved from Vancouver, Canada to Charlotte, North Carolina, but it feels like I've been here forever. When we desire for time to move fast, it seems to pass much slower than we want it to. I'm uncertain if maybe it's me counting down the days that make the days seem longer, or whether every day has felt this long, but I've never bothered to care enough because I enjoyed the moment. It's been kind of hard lately, dealing with time. A lot of my friends, and family had told me to give it time, and once I'll make new friends, and go to school, it'll get better. I've made amazing friends here whom remind me of the friends I have back home, and I feel like I've known them forever, but it's the memories I miss back home. Seeing everyone back home carry on with their usual everyday routine upsets me because it feels like I was never a part of it, in the first place. I miss them so much, and I cherish the memories that we've made so much, and think about all the future memories we could've made. That's what bothers me the most. Knowing that I could've been happier than I am now, and have everything that I've ever dreamed of having, if I didn't move. I know it isn't a big deal to many of you, but I'm a really sentimental person who only feels confident, and wanted enough around, and by minimal people whom I trust greatly, after several years of friendship. Honestly, I've moved enough times in my life to tell you how much I've learned, and how open-minded I've become. I've learnt that there's so much more in this world than your school, community, and the social groups you've grown up with. It's interesting getting out of your comfort zone, and meeting new people, and observing the ways that they've grown up, and the culture that they've grown into. Culture, and life experiences, in this case moving, are a lot like having a favourite music genre. If you continuously listen to one genre, you'll only grow fond, and used to that one specific genre, that you won't enjoy the flavor, and feel of the other music genres, which limits your choices to 1 when it could've been more than 20. It's really the way you look at things that make you realize to what extent of importance, and relevance it is in your life. At some point, everyone has to be willing to sacrifice something, and for me, that time is now. All I can do is take that as an opportunity to learn from others, recover, and build myself, meet new people and open up my mind to many more adventures, and prepare myself for what life brings on for me, but never forgetting to kick American ass, so I can come back to Vancity for university :)

5/27/2016 1 Comment Authentic EmotionsThis was taken in Downtown Vancouver, on some dock, by Canada Place. This was a really fun photo challenge because I got to capture the moment where its just you and the person, in this case Lester. " Stop taking more photos of me now, you already took enough." As a photographer, i can't stop capturing moments. You cherish these moments later on in life, when you realize how happy you were before, and how it changed drastically, so you resurface these moments, and they make you feel sad because you wish you were that happy now. Emotion is a hard thing for me to deal with, and it's easy to capture happiness because I feel happy around certain people, and I surround myself with people who visualize, and look forward, and take the moment, and make it a good memory. Anxiety, and sadness on the other hand is hard to capture because so many people cover it up with a smile, and sooner or later, it breaks them at 2am in the morning. It's nice to know that there's hope, and that you can be happy if you try to, so I try capturing moments with hope, and happiness. I just want to give my best friend Lester, a shout out for being there for me, and helping me get through the days where I get emotional, and when I feel like there's nobody there for me. It's a great feeling knowing that there's somebody there who appreciates you, and wants to share the feeling with others because you're that important to them.
5/25/2016 1 Comment Shades of Blue"Goner" was taken by Canada Place, in downtown Vancouver. I call it goner because it reminds me of the wallpaper for TOP's song goner, which has birds as the background. There was a flock of about 50 birds, which kept flying over me in circles. I tried capturing the movement without making the birds blurry, but they were moving so fast. After I took this, i actually don't regret this shot because of the way the clouds look, and add texture, and composition to the photo. I like how the blue really stands out against the white, and adds some colour to it, and gives the bird some character. I really enjoyed this photo challenge because i got to play with balancing whites, and blues. I'm really proud of this photo, and I hope you guys enjoy it as well.
4/10/2016 1 Comment Still LifeTHIS WAS THE BEST BEST BEST photo challenge that we've had so far. I enjoyed turning my room into a studio, and basically trashing it until I got a photo that I was proud of. I am soooooo happy to be able to share this photo with you because to me, black and white photos share more emotion than standard photos. The way in which the black contrasts the white, and sets those shades of grey in between represent a certain depth in emotion. This photo represents my feelings towards time. Those moments when you just need a break, and you pull out a book, and some cheesecake brownies (duh) are my favourite. Sometimes, you need to be able to escape your realities and do something for yourself, instead of others. The amount of time I spent on this photo was so worth it, and it really taught me how to take photos that are aesthetically pleasing but also how to balance out the black and whites. I didn't edit this photo at all, and it was actually a mistake that I had the camera on monochromatic setting. The original picture I took was laid out differently, but I re-arranged the subject and took it again from birds eye view, and it came to this. I'm super duper proud of this photo, and this inspired me to take more black and white photos that represent my emotion towards certain objects, and also to edit it so the black and whites make you wonder what I feel, and the meaning behind the photo.
Woahhh so this was one of the photo challenges where I had the most fun. I enjoyed spending time with my cat and honestly, I'm so thankful that he's amazing at modelling because it made my job so much easier. To me, eyes are one of the most attractive, interesting feature of a creature. The colour, and shape brings out so much in a photo, and it creates a mood. In this photo, my cat looks a bit frightened, and curious at the same time. When looking at this photo, you want to know what he was looking at, and just capturing the emotion that was being shown. The yellow and green in his eyes really contrast the black fur making it really warm, and making the eyes stand out much more. I took this photo on aperture priority mode because I wanted the DOF to be blurrier so I can focus on his eyes, and facial expression. The ISO was set at 400, and the WB was set at cloudy making it not too bright, but colourful at the same time. Overall, I learned how to balance lighting, and contrast the picture at the same time, which is one of the most important things a photographer needs to take a photo that shows great composition.
1/7/2016 3 Comments Jack FrostThis photo challenge was a lot of fun because we got to explore different areas where the snow looked really good. The ISO was 400, and it was taken on aperture priority mode 5.6. I love how the camera focused on the grass and the snow, and how it is blurred at the back. The snow looks like small crystals and gives the picture much more detail. The grass looks mysterious because it looks like it is coming out of no where since there isn't much grass around in the winter time. The white, brown, and green contrast very well because the white wraps around the subject and hides the other colours. The blurry background helps express the grass even more and makes it look much more evident. As a Vancouverite, we don't get as much snow as other parts of Canada. Usually when we get snow, it either turns into slush or disappears really fast. This was a challenging photo to take because the snow was all melted, and my shoes were wet. The snow was almost gone so I had to rush taking my photos. I really love how this photo came out and I don't think I could've been any luckier than this.
12/13/2015 2 Comments SingaporeThis photo was taken on the Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge, Singapore. I really love this city because there are buildings and bridges everywhere and this city has so much life anytime of the day. This photo wasn't edited at all, and I personally don't see a need for this photo be edited because I think this picture couldn't have been any better. The buildings add so much interest because it is located at an angle and it feels as if it's a palace because it looks so far away, because of its depth of field. The bridge is the main subject in this photo. The perfect symmetry lines, and the angle of the bridge's railings are located at the perfect spot in this photo. The white clouds were probably the biggest effect. It gave this photo a very aesthetic look, and made it look all white. If the sky was blue, there would've been less effect and the picture wouldn't have come out so well. I took this bridge, and setting as an opportunity to discover symmetry in photos, and how to balance out lighting. I am very proud of this picture, and I hope you like it as much as I do.
12/13/2015 0 Comments IndiaThese steps are located just outside my house. My house is located in a village called Kunduampadam. What makes this village so special is that everyone knows each other in this village. There are no strangers. The house is also as special because my grandmother and her six siblings were born in this house and most of mother's side of the family grew up here. These stairs lead to the rice fields, and a river. Only local farmers enter the fields because it is home to so many species of snakes. The peacocks, cranes, kingfisher birds, and several more animals make this place so lively. When I'm bored, I always come sit on these stairs and listen to the squirrels and birds chirping. I feel so cozy, and the fresh air gives me some relief. It makes me happy to share these stories with you because it really means something to me. Many people think of India as dirty, polluted but as you can see, not every place is like that.
11/14/2015 0 Comments Birds Eye View This photo was taken in Singapore, on the fifty-sixth floor of the Marina Bay Sands resort. The Marina Bay Sands resort is one of the top ten attractions in Singapore because of this wonderful view! I thought this was an amazing opportunity for me to take some birds eye view photos. The birds eye view photo challenge made me want to cry because being a bird looks so fun and as a kid, I've always wanted to be able to fly, and have cool superpowers. Birds Eye View was an amazing experience for me because seeing the world from different angles really helps us understand it better. I also love this photo because the roads, the tiny red lights of the cars, the ferris wheel and the buildings in the background really contrast the water, and the dark sky. I love the night life because it's another way of exploring yourself, and your inner child. I enjoy being in the dark, and playing with light, and this picture really helped me express my emotion for it. Overall, this opportunity was one of a kind, and I can still picture myself taking this photo.
10/16/2015 0 Comments The Sky is FallingThis photo was taken out by Seaquam's basketball courts. It was just a normal day in Vancouver which means bipolar weather. Perks of living in Vancouver are seasons like fall. Fall is so beautiful because of the falling leaves, and the leaves of the maple trees changing colours. Fall may also be a season of flu, and a lot of rain but I think the falling leaves and colour changes are worth it. This picture is one out of 1000000 fall moments where I forgot I had a camera on me and was taking photos. I absolutely love the colours and the grey fence in the background helps bring out the colours even more. You can even see the detail of the leaves even if camera was not too close to the leaves. I feel like this picture as a lot of detail even if the background is blurred and detailess.
10/7/2015 0 Comments Black and WhiteI absolutely love this photo so much and I think it's one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. Black and White is so colorful in my point of view and I find it different from other shades of colors because it's a different way of expressing emotion, and the different shades represent different levels of emotion. This theme was very exciting to me because I got to play with the shades and choose a subject that would look amazing under the b&w filter. I also enjoyed choosing a subject that would really contrast the two shades. I took this picture in Dubai, and this fountain kind of reminds me of Las Vegas since they have a similar dancing fountain. The many cameras taking the pictures add a lot of interest as well since it's capturing the same moment from many views. Overall, I really enjoyed this photo challenge, and it let me play around with filters and my camera which taught me a lot!
